Does that number on the scale or in your bank account define you?
You are not a number.
You are not the number on a scale.
You are not the number of social media followers or real-life friends you have.
You are not how many books you sold or how many dolla-dollar bills you have (or lack).
You’re not your zip code, age or that grade on your test.
You're not defined by the number of kids you have or don’t,
or the number of times a day you struggle with sin or shame.
Yesterday morning I woke up with that thought in my spirit, “You are not a number.”
The Lord so kindly reminded me what needs to hold the most significance in my life.
And it’s not a number, but a who.
Remember this when you feel like a number or even insignificant.
1. As a follower of Christ, you’re His. because of this, YOU get to share Him in the world.
To remain Christ-centered in our workplace, relationships, and to-do list, we must remember our worth doesn’t come from these numbers... but our relationship with Him.
And the things in our identity that can weigh heavy on us like culture, a number that seems important, successes or failure shouldn't actually determine who are who's we are.
Our identity should be shaped by our relationship with Christ.
2. As a Christ-follower, you are chosen.
You're a child of God and I'm thankful God leads us to repentance, healing, Christ-awareness, and He gives so much grace when we make it about the wrong things.
You. Are. Not. A. Number.
And just as verse 9 says above, "may you declare His praises."
We get to share about God's goodness, grace, and glory and shine BRIGHT for Him!
Contentment truly comes from dependence on Christ.
May HE shape our identity and purpose today!
Prayerfully journal through some action items you can take THIS week to share God’s goodness. Grace and glory in the world.
Lord, bring us peace from performance and help us to rest in the wrestle of “who am I anyway?”. Amen.
God is at work all around us (and in us), don't miss it!
