My Confidence is NOT in the Enneagram

Such confidence we have through Christ before God. 5 Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
— 2 Corinthians 3:4-6 (NIV)

Do you ever feel like you're supposed to act a certain way or be something you're not?

  • "You SHOULD respond like this."

  • "You SHOULD do this next."

  • "You SHOULD _________."

Do you know what I've been thinking about a lot lately? What it looks like to be self-aware as a believer.

There's a lot of SHOULDS we may need freedom from in order to be the best versions of ourselves.

Enneagram numbers and personality assessments are all the rage these days... but what if we took a step back and really assessed WHO God is, so we can better understand who WE are created to be.

We have confidence through CHRIST.

Not in our talents or personality test results. Although those can be helpful in better understanding your personality, they aren't shaping, pruning, or molding you - God is!

So today I want you to think about what it would really look like if you fully understood:

  • your giftings,

  • personality

  • and God-given abilities

What would it look like to step into them confidently? Not because you’re great, but because you know God is!

This is pivotal in being self-aware.

We actually get to celebrate Christ by celebrating the SHOULD out of you today. There is so much freedom letting go of the things you think you should or shouldn’t be doing and truly learning to TRUST and find confidence IN God. Instead of chasing stuff to produce self-confidence, chase Christ instead.

He’ll produce in you a God-confidence… which is SO much more powerful than confidence rooted in self.

God-designed you and equips you to shine for HIM!

You carry joy, hope, gentleness, self-control, leadership, mercy, love (etc)  and your confidence isn't in those things, but in the giver of those things. Christ.

So I'm thanking God for you today... maybe you should too!

Ask Holy Spirit to show you 3 personality traits that He's developing or has developed IN you!

Have fun working through this. Cheering you on!

God is at work all around us (and in us), don't miss it!
